Losing a passport in Thailand usually means dealing with your embassy — and that process is slow, stressful, and disruptive. Before going that route, retrace your steps immediately. Check hotels, restaurants, taxis, tuk-tuks, airport staff, tour offices, and anywhere else you visited. These places often have procedures for handling lost property, and passports are one of the items most likely to be turned in because nobody wants the risk of holding one.
Don’t wait. File a report right away and contact Tourist Police Thailand at the same time. Acting fast gives you the best chance of getting it back before it disappears into a system that can take days — or longer — to resolve.
